The spacious Old Nob Hill Cafe & Bar is hosting open music nights.
Everyone is welcome from solo musicians, deejays, and bands.
This is a great opportunity for fun and practice at performing live. Being a new venue most nights are open- in fact we would like to get things rolling ASAP so impromptue shows are great you can most likely play tonight if you like. Anyhow we are setting the schedule but we are planning for bands and deejays on Saturday and Sunday with open mike nights during the week.

It's February, friends, and that means March is coming right up. We are so excited for our birthday show! We've got our friends Aphrodesia coming up from the Bay Area to open for the evening show. They played with us at the Doug Fir a few months back -- what a booty-shakin' night! The Crystal Ballroom's dance floor will be bouncing.

Abstract Earth Project

Trevor was influenced by the Detroit and Chicago house sounds that were so vibrant in Portland in the mid to late 90's. After watching the DJs battle in the movie Juice in 1992, he said to
himself, "I can do this." Sen¢e began working with local Portland
hip-hop artists in the mid-to-late 90's, and became more involved with the 'underground' movement. He soon bought himself a set of turntables and began to teach himself how to beat match and mix. A Time 4 Hemp yahoo group has been deleated...

...by Yahoo! it seems...I loged on a day or so ago and it had been deleated. I contacted Yahoo's office and was informed that - yes, Yahoo closed the group - and if they ever answer my e-mail...maybe someday, I will find out why? Was it censorship???? I have started a new Yahoo Group - have posted some video clips, photos and after I post this message to a few group sites, will start to add messages to my message board.

I had important news item dating all the way back to the year I founded the ATime4Hemp Yahoo groop...the year 2000. Neary 1,200 messages had been archived on the site for people to wade through should they need to find information on Hemp Studies - or locate links....whatever.

I'm mad. Mad enough to start a new group and ask that the Hemp Movement join it and help to make it bigger and better than the one that was deleated.

Description:

This is the live recording of our set at the Shambhala music festival this year in British Columbia, Canada. Its a mash up of psydub, ethno fusion, psydm, idm, prog psy and just a lot of great music. This was an honor to play and an even bigger honor to have so many amazing souls present and having the chance to open the stage for Ott, Andrew of Interchill and Sphongle (Awoooo!!) had us smiling pretty big for quite a few days afterwards. A huge thank you to all those who were there with a gigantic thank you to miss Saratonin for being our vocalist through this set. Congrats Sara! Deep, Dark and VERY Proggy Psy / Trippy House Mix

Exactly as my girl Irena ordered, each track and transition approved by her, this mix is deep, dark, dirty and very progressive. This mix was also VERY hard to compile, taking over 80 hours and four months. Compiling a cd with another person did make the process a long one, but it was also something we both really enjoyed. This mix was also the nucleus of the set Norris and I played at Motion Notion this year. As well, this version is an edited master, my mixer is on the fritz and once I get it repaired a new unedited final mix will be posted.

**This posting was in reference to the Psychedelic Pacific event, I attended last weekend, but it applies to all events and people and ages….**

I also had a really great time that night. I made the comment that I haven’t danced that hard since Goa Gil, this last fall! The drive down was great and the drive home was even better! Overall, it was a great night! The space was decorated 1derfully!

Yes, there were a lot of kids there. And most of them were way too far out of it to even realize what was going on around them…let alone, get the experience that we were trying to give them….i.e. the music, the visuals and the energy connections that we share as we come together as one body. This didn’t apply to all, but far more than usual. So….

The rest of this post is for YOU, the young people who are seeking and wanting more in life…

Since YOU are our future…it is up to all of us to educate one another and teach what it is we are about and how to party responsibly. We cannot and should not stop you from wanting expanding your minds, but many, if not all of you, most definitely need some guidance, or the future of the underground music expansion will stagnate and die. No one wants this, so it is ALL OF OUR responsibility to look out for one another.

The one individual that ended up having to be taken home ended up not only ruining his own night, he ended up destroying property, hurting someone he cared about and caused the event to end early.

All he kept asking is: “When is it going to end?” He had no idea what he had taken and what the effects would be. Does anyone think this was his intention at the beginning of the night?

I also want to admonish the person who irresponsibly gave whatever it was, to him. YOU are the one who became responsible for him, the moment you shared whatever it was you were sharing. YOU MUST THINK ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR ACTIONS! If I ever hear anyone calling out openly that they are looking for or are selling drugs at our events, they will be given one chance only to stop doing this and if it occurs again then they will be asked to leave. There are informants that want our culture to fail and by you doing this, you are giving them fuel to help that happen.

For those of you who are new to these experiences, and have no idea what the effects are going to be, or how you will react to them, DO NOT TAKE ANYONE ELSES WORD ON WHAT YOU ARE TAKING. EDUCATE YOURSELVES!

For that reason in itself, we have moved away from the term and the illegal innuendos of a RAVE. What you attended was an “Event”, it was not a Rave. Just the word alone, will send fear and misconceptions to the surrounding communities we live in and they will shut us DOWN…

Our events are created with intention. They are not RAVEs. We all love to party. But we do it with the intention of furthering our connection with, ourselves, each other, our planet, and opening our minds. It is not about getting blasted out of our minds and having no conception of our surroundings or that produce regrets like the above mentioned individual did. Again: We party with intention and responsibility to ourselves, each other and to our planet….

A bunch of DJs came to my studio, downtown on Stark St... they heard we were having a party, spinning records, and stringing kandi beads... a guy asked, 'would it be ok for us to spin too?' I said sure... he introduced me to his friends who were waiting outside...

and they all had crates full of records!!! HELL YEAH!!!

We had such a good time, we continued to get together for like 3 months... until I moved up to Washington...

selling a reliable 89 subaru wagon with good energy

've only had this car a few weeks, before me was one conscientious owner since it was new. She took good care of the car, and it's been awesome for me so far. I was really looking forward to driving this car for years, but I've have to relocate for work unexpectedly, so Im leaving town soon, and must sell this beautiful auto to a lucky soul...

-red GL wagon - the last year they made GL's
-power locks, windows, brakes, steering
-electric works well / engine in great shape
-160,000 miles, will last another 100k with upkeep
-detachable face cassette player
-clean interior (no rips)
-some wear on the exterior paint, a little rust, and one small dent
-will need a brake job within the year

I've only had the car a short time but have taken her to Mt. Hood twice, as well as to the coast. She starts reliably, drives comfortably, and is clean inside. You can sleep in the back, carry groceries or bikes. Good for commuting or road trips. Gets great mileage too (28)!

I would not sell this car if not for my circumstances, but as such need to sell it quickly. I hope someone is out there who this will find at a good time for them as well. please email if interested in taking a test drive. hurricaneczar (at) gmail (dot) com

I am one of 17 people who, in 1991, wrote the California Hemp Initiative (CHI) allowing people who need the use of hemp (slang termed: marijuana) for medical reasons to grow 6 plants or less in their own homes with out fear of prosecution.

The 17 of us who wrote this initiative then recruited an army of volunteers to gather enough signatures to get the CHI onto the voting ballot in 1992. California voters overwhelmingly supported CHI and it became state law shortly there after. I created 'Time 4 Hemp' as a way to bring attention to the CHI.

A copy of the CHI can be reviewed on the web site as can free short video downloads from each interview. You can also freely download the complete audio of each interview should you like. You can also download 4 video clips from my involvement in the Smoked Marijuana Study at UCLA funded by the US government if you have time for a quick chuckle. I am the only person in the world ever to be filmed in a study of that nature.

The 'Time 4 Hemp' weekly WebCast will broadcast LIVE, at High Noon once a week through the internet. Each program will then be edited and archived so anyone wanting to listen to it - at anytime - can do so.

We intend to rock the world (as always) with the message of:
"Hemp for Paper, Fiber, Fuel and Medication".

October 15th will mark a millstone for the ecstatic dance community in Portland! On this Saturday, we will be visited by world-renowned ecstatic dance facilitators, and international-class musicians who have come to activate and awaken us with the most extreme-cutting edge take on the ecstatic dance experience offered anywhere!

For so many of us, dance is our passion and religion. We chase after the experience, dream of our Saturday nights and summer festivals, fantasize about dance during the more mundane things in our lives.

But for something that so many of us cherish so much, it’s amazing how little we know about the subtle mechanics and nuances of dance – and how to activate it are full potential!

I went to a party in Eugene back in March of 2001,
at the Masonic Temple, called B'NEATH the SURFACE...

Anthony(Kelly's former partner in BigBammBass)'s son Tim(TeknoFry) and I, ventured south to vend kandi & promote Playground PDX...

We were welcomed there, and were vending next to Maressa (Jade) & Chris (Wikk!d). They were so cool, and committed to our scene. They had brought a computer set-up to showcase their website Kandieland.com... Awesome!
They were also vending/fundraising, and I traded them a blinky l.e.d. fan I made (I put a blinky yo-yo on a hand-held fan: you can buy 'em everywhere now!) for a binky bear lite... I still have it!
Over the years, Jade & Wikk!d have worked hard to support & nurture our community... representing DanceSafe in Eugene, among other things... and re-creating their website: www.SoBroken.com (with internet radio).

For those of you who don't know, Emilia (DJXL) was one of the DJs who came to jam at my downtown studio, back in 2000...
which was the beginning of Playground PDX!
(DJ Daze, DJXL, Mikee, Racer X, Scotty, Antonio, etc.)
DJs would come to spin, during the week, and to warm-up for the coming weekend... which became known as 'DJ's Nite Off' sessions.
Emilia, your arrival coincides with another milestone:
The original msn group, reached 44 members.
(2001 to 2004)
This group on tribe, at 88, is now double that!
(Aug. 04 to today)

I think this reflects the power & impact of tribe.net...
